Constrained simulations of the local universe : II . The nature of the local Hubble flow

چکیده
Using a suite of N-body simulations in different Cold Dark Matter (CDM) scenarios, with cosmological constant (ΛCDM) and without (OCDM, SCDM), we study the Hubble flow (σH) in Local Volumes (LV) around Local Group (LG) like objects found in these simulations, and compare the numerical results with the most recent observations. We show that ΛCDM and OCDM models exhibit the same behavior of σH . Hence, we demonstrate that the observed coldness of the Hubble flow is not likely to be a manifestation of the dark energy, contrary to previous claims. The coldness does not constitute a problem by itself but it poses a problem to the standard ΛCDM model only if the mean density within the Local Volume is greater than twice the mean matter cosmic density. The lack of blueshifted galaxies in the LV, outside of the LG can be considered as another manifestation of the coldness of the flow. Finally, we show that the main dynamical parameter that affects the coldness of the flow is the relative isolation of the LG, and the absence of nearby Milky Way like objects within a distance of about 3Mpc.

The Local Hubble Flow: Is it a Manifestation of Dark Energy?
To study the local Hubble flow, we have run constrained dark matter (DM) simulations of the Local Group (LG) in the concordance ΛCDM and OCDM cosmologies, with identical cosmological parameters apart from the Λ term. The simulations were performed within a computational box of 64 hMpc centred on the LG. The initial conditions were constrained by the observed peculiar velocities of galaxies and ...
متن کاملMulti-objective Differential Evolution for the Flow shop Scheduling Problem with a Modified Learning Effect
This paper proposes an effective multi-objective differential evolution algorithm (MDES) to solve a permutation flow shop scheduling problem (PFSSP) with modified Dejong's learning effect. The proposed algorithm combines the basic differential evolution (DE) with local search and borrows the selection operator from NSGA-II to improve the general performance. First the problem is encoded with a...
متن کاملIterated Local Search Algorithm for the Constrained Two-Dimensional Non-Guillotine Cutting Problem
An Iterated Local Search method for the constrained two-dimensional non-guillotine cutting problem is presented. This problem consists in cutting pieces from a large stock rectangle to maximize the total value of pieces cut. In this problem, we take into account restrictions on the number of pieces of each size required to be cut. It can be classified as 2D-SLOPP (two dimensional single large o...
متن کاملConstrained Nonlinear Optimal Control via a Hybrid BA-SD
The non-convex behavior presented by nonlinear systems limits the application of classical optimization techniques to solve optimal control problems for these kinds of systems. This paper proposes a hybrid algorithm, namely BA-SD, by combining Bee algorithm (BA) with steepest descent (SD) method for numerically solving nonlinear optimal control (NOC) problems. The proposed algorithm includes th...
متن کاملPeculiar Hubble Flows in Our Local Universe
A formalism that simultaneously searches for the monopolar and dipolar peculiar velocities is presented. The formalism is applied to (1) the Mark III catalogue, (2) Lauer and Postman’s Abell cluster catalogue, and (3) Riess et al.’s Type Ia supernova sample. The emphasis is drawn to the monopolar peculiar velocities, i.e., peculiar Hubble flows, within these samples. The samples show inconsiste...
